Grumpy's Repair Inc, 225 H St. Baker City, OR 97814 The mechanics of our valley have blessed single moms and widows biannually for quite a few years now in the name of Jesus. It has been such a success that we did it again as a part of our 2nd annual Mission Baker City. Monday, June 6th, 2016
There are entire sects of people who tend to be forgotten in our society for no rhyme or reason. These people exist in all corners of each city across the world. There are many people in our own city with so much to share, yet no one takes the time to build relationship with them. Some people have recognized the amazing group of people at Elkhorn Village, and they spent time getting to know them in a more relational and personal way. Friday, June 3rd, 2016
Many parents took this opportunity to have free babysitting and spend quality time with their spouses over dinner and a movie. What a great idea for serving our community. Monday, June 6th, 2016
People with a heart for those who do their laundry in a communal way, have created bags of quarters to give away to the residents of Elkhorn Village. People were blessed with a bag of quarters in hopes to ease the stress of paying to do their laundry, but also to bless them with conversation and a smile. Tuesday, May 31st, 2016
A group of Harvest Christian Academy students who regularly use the local skate park have decided to take on the task of cleaning it up. The garbage was picked up and disposed of, the rocks on the concrete were swept and cleared off so all can enjoy, and the area around the park was also cleaned up. June 1st at 9am
Neighborhoods around our city were blessed with dozens upon dozens of yummy, gooey cookies to enjoy. Several people joined together at ovens across the town to bake love into cookies, brownies, rice crispy treats, and much more. Saturday, May 28th, 2016
A crew from Harvest Church were excited to make the trip up to Richland to help spruce up a houses with fresh paint, fresh mowings in yards, weeding, clearing out clutter from yards, and window cleaning. What a wonderful way to usher in the summer with blessings! Saturday, May 28th, 2016
Our little town hasn't been voted the best in Oregon for nothing. People love living and visiting here. Therefore, a team of people have volunteered to go throughout neighborhoods assisting people who need large items, garbage, and debris hauled away. They have taken the yard build up and hauled it to the dump for no charge to the owner. This year we hauled over 4 tons of garbage! What a blessing! Saturday, May 28th, 2016
We are so blessed to have The Powder River run right through our beautiful town. Even better, we get to enjoy the Leo Adler path. Every now and again they both need a little sprucing up. And we have assembled just the crew to do it. We cleaned the river and path of garbage and debris. Saturday, May 28th, 2016
Memorial Day isn't just a long holiday weekend. It is a time to honor and remember those who have given everything for the freedoms we enjoy in our country. Many people recognize the sacrifice so many have made, and they would like to place flags and give away flags to the loved ones of fallen soldiers and those who have served and passed away. We honored our vets of Baker cemetery by lining the streets with flags. May 27th, 2016
Last year was such a success, we decided to do it again. Thanks for bringing your rigs down, we had a lot of fun washing them. Be blessed! Today, we were able to bless several single mothers, widows, and veterans with free oil changes just in time for Christmas. Then, they were surprised with a free gas card as they were sent on their way for an added blessing in the name of Jesus. Special thanks to Grumpy's, Haines Ag and Auto, Napa Auto Parts, CarQuest, and all the men who volunteered their time to bless "the least of these." Spreading the good news of the gospel -- The real meaning behind the season.
For two days, a group of people drummed up cars with signs and facebook to bless them by washing and drying their car. So many people were unable to believe that they could receive something completely free. One woman even said, "This is harder for me that it is for you guys." She had a hard time not even donating to have her car washed. Another man insisted that he pay for us to wash his truck. The group dared him to go through a coffee shop and pay for the person behind him as a way to give back. He said he accepted the challenge, and committed to doing the "coffee shop challenge."
We gathered just after the free fishing derby to pick up garbage both in the pond and on the shores. Some of the bigger items we found were an old snowboard and fold-up chair. Ben was happy to restock his bobber supply with all the bobbers he found. We thank Chris and Troy for helping us eradicate the tick population by collecting a record number of ticks on their clothing! For now the pond is clean and we hope it remains clean and enjoyable for everyone this summer.
Our weeks at the nursing homes were such a blessing! Being able to talk over a meal with people who have so much to share was humbling. Watching their smiles radiate as they grabbed one of the homemade cookies we brought was priceless too. After dessert it was games, more talking, piano playing, and doing the ladies' nails. We hope to go back regularly to remind these precious people they are NOT forgotten.
